Local blues band Iguana Hat received rave reviews for its recent CD "Not Your Usual Lounge Lizards" in a Seattle-based monthly magazine geared to Northwest blues fans.

In its October review or the CD, Blues To-Do's reviewer Tony Egnlehart wrote: "Iguana Hat and their maiden release, are simply two of Eastern Washington's best exports." Englehart described the disc, full of original tunes, as having the "savy sophistication of Steely Dan, the bluesy boogie-rock style of Savoy Brown and the funkiness of Delbert McClinton."

He aslo said, "there is not an inferior song on this recording" and singled out "Bahama Blues" and "Back to New Orleans" as two of his favorites.

The CD is available at Hot Poop and Music Unlimited in Walla Walla.

The Walla Walla band has opened for Curtis Salgado, Coco Montoya, and Jude Bowerman, among others. It has also appeared three times at the Ritzville Blues Festival and at various Eastern Washington and Lewiston clubs.

Members are Mike Cook on guitar and vocals, Mike Hammond, drums and percussion, Jim Johnson, vocals, keys, sax and harp, and David Joseph, bass and vocals.
