Cartop ZooMike Hammond's Road Art is a "welding pot" of artistic expression, combining industrial materials from his Melody Muffler automotive shop and insightful imagination to create a surreal look at the world around us.

Together, Mike and Mike's sons Jason and Tyson take items which others would discard and bring to life the ordinary and the extraordinary that most of us all too easily take for granted.

Mvc-014s.jpg (32615 bytes) Interest in Road Art has spread throughout the United States to people of all walks of life. The head of Astronomy at the University of Washington has commissioned pieces. Knowing of his fondness for motorcycles, Mike sent a miniature Harley made of railroad spikes and horseshoes to talk show host Jay Leno for which Mike received a warm thank you stating his appreciation and enjoyment of Mike's work. The Art department of the University of California at Los Angeles has several pieces on display and feature the works in the book Muffler Men. In addition, Mike's pieces are featured in the May 2000 issue of National Geographic.
